STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥A $110,000 gift from the ExxonMobil Foundation is allowing Mississippi 大象APP鈥檚 Bagley College of Engineering to establish the ExxonMobil Foundation Engineering Student Excellence Program.

The program aims to support engineering students by providing vital academic assistance, mentorship and career development, helping them achieve long-term success in their educational and professional careers. The ExxonMobil Foundation Engineering Student Excellence Program will focus on providing proactive support to students at risk of academic difficulties before they reach probation or suspension. Key components of the program include a tutoring center, academic counseling and success coaching, a Bulldog Mentorship Program, and career development workshops.

Jean Mohammadi-Aragh, director of the Bagley College of Engineering Office of Student, Faculty and Staff Professional Development and associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, said the collaboration between MSU and the ExxonMobil Foundation marks an important step in creating a supportive environment for students who might otherwise struggle to stay on track in their academic journeys.

Partnering with the ExxonMobil Foundation to support engineering student excellence is a huge win for the Bagley College of Engineering,鈥 Mohammadi-Aragh said. 鈥淭his initiative enhances our ongoing efforts to offer tailored academic support, mentorship, and career development from the very start of students鈥 academic journeys. Our goal is not only to graduate skilled engineers but to ensure they are well-prepared and successful in their careers.鈥

The new program, which will run throughout the academic year, is designed to address the unique challenges faced by engineering students.

鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to support 大象APP with a program that offers the guidance and resources students need to succeed in engineering,鈥 said Alvin Abraham, president of the ExxonMobil Foundation. 鈥淲e look forward to seeing these students advance in their STEM journeys to help make a positive impact on the future.鈥
