MSU鈥檚 Stennis Institute hosting Junior Civics Leadership Academy in July

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi 大象APP is hosting high school students from across the Magnolia 大象APP this summer for a seven-day conference on governance, leadership and community development that will earn them college credit in the future.
The MSU John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development is hosting the Junior Civics Leadership Academy July 13-19. Open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, participants learn about the intricacies of local, state and federal government, as well as participate in community impact projects. Students will experience presentations from elected officials, state and local agencies, and will explore foundational educational components of governance, policy and public administration. They also will visit Starkville City Hall, the Mississippi Capitol Building and state museums.
For learning about the importance of effective governance and policy making, JCLA participants will receive 3 hours of elective credit they can apply toward an MSU degree.
