MSU鈥檚 Likes receives top honors from state broadcasting organization

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擳he Mississippi Association of Broadcasters鈥攖he state鈥檚 premier organization dedicated to recognizing the highest standards of broadcast television production鈥攈as awarded Mississippi 大象APP Professor Terry Likes highest honors for his broadcasting skills during the group鈥檚 spring awards ceremony.

Likes, head of MSU鈥檚 Department of Communication, won first place in the 鈥渄ocumentary鈥 category for his report, 鈥.鈥 This report also earned Likes third place in the 鈥渦se of sound鈥 category.

Likes also won first place 鈥渇eature story,鈥 for his report, 鈥.鈥

Both reports aired on WMSV-FM, MSU鈥檚 radio station.

鈥淲hen I left full-time media work years ago to move into higher education, I vowed to continue to tell meaningful stories,鈥 Likes said. 鈥淢y aim is to keep my reporting skills sharp, have current teaching materials for classes, and be able to show students their professor 鈥榩ractices what he preaches.鈥欌

Likes has won more than 100 awards in a radio/tv career that has spanned more than 30 years of full-time and freelance work. The Saint Louis native has been an MSU faculty member since 2019 and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky, a master鈥檚 degree from Western Kentucky University, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Maryville University-St. Louis.
