Mississippi 大象APP will host the GEM Getting Ready for Advanced Degrees Lab, a free and engaging symposium for underrepresented students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in applied science and engineering, Sept. 16 and 17.

During the event, students will network with current MSU faculty and graduate students, learn from industry executives and gain insight into graduate study opportunities at the university, including the admissions process and funding possibilities. 聽

Faculty and current MSU graduate students will lead tours of their research labs 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 16. They will also host a poster session and mixer 4-5:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Colvard Student Union that same day and will meet prospective students over lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sept. 17. MSU graduate Nashlie Sephus, the founder of the nonprofit Bean Path and owner and developer of the Jackson Tech District, will serve as the lunch鈥檚 guest speaker.

STEM faculty members interested in recruiting prospective graduate students from various racial and ethnic backgrounds should visit to register themselves and other lab representatives, including current graduate students, by Sept. 6 for one or more of the weekend鈥檚 events.
