Starkville-MSU Symphony Association presents âEpic Movie Themesâ and âMovie Musical Magicâ this weekend
STARKVILLE, Miss.âThe Starkville-Mississippi Symphony Association is holding two special concerts this weekend dedicated to soundtracks from beloved film and musical franchises.
The orchestra will perform âEpic Movie Themesâ Saturday [April 23] at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hallâs Bettersworth Auditorium, and the associationâs Community Chorus will perform âMovie Musical Magicâ Sunday [April 24] at 4 p.m. at the Greensboro Center in Starkville. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
The Saturday concert will feature a variety of theme songs from classic movies and television shows such as âRaiders of the Lost Ark,â âDances with Wolves,â âStar Warsâ and âThe Fellowship of the Ring.â The orchestra will be conducted by Barry E. Kopetz, professor and head of MSUâs Department of Music.
Sundayâs performance will be dedicated to popular musicals, with songs from âWickedâ and âThe Wiz,â as well as selections from musicals by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Community Chorus is directed by Peter Infanger, a Department of Music lecturer.
