STARKVILLE, Miss.âMississippi ´ķĪķAPPâs performing arts series, the Lyceum Series, presents âThe Greatest Love of All,â starring Belinda Davids in a Feb. 15 tribute to late pop singer Whitney Houstonâone of the best-selling recording artists of all time. Showtime is 7 p.m. in Lee Hallâs historic Bettersworth Auditorium.
Featuring Houstonâs Grammy-award winning music, the concert also will showcase a six-piece live band and dancers to accompany Davidsâ inspiring vocals.
Davids has performed a tribute to Whitney Houston since 2013 when she auditioned for Showtime Australiaâs live concert âThe Greatest Love of All,â beating over 15,000 other auditionees for the starring role. Critics have applauded the South African vocalistâs stunning resemblance to the late singerâs sound as she tours across the globe, celebrating Houston and her legacy.
Houston is the only artist to have had seven consecutive number-one singles on Billboardâs Hot 100, including âSaving All My Love for Youâ and âWhere Do Broken Hearts Goâ from her first two albums in the 1980s, among the best-selling of all time. In 1992, she made her acting debut in âThe Bodyguard,â but is most remembered for her rendition in the film of âI Will Always Love You,â which became the best-selling single by a female in music history.
Individual tickets are available to the general public at $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. MSU students may enter for free with valid student I.D. Purchases can be made at and at the door, if available.
