MSU music faculty member to present marimba recital

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜 faculty member in 大象APP鈥檚 Department of Music is presenting a solo marimba recital at 3 p.m. Sunday [Sept. 17] at 283 East Lee Blvd., the former location of the Baptist Student Union.

Jason Baker, associate professor of music, will be accompanied by MSU students Trenton Brown, a senior from Columbus; John Ferguson, a junior from Memphis, Tennessee; Dylan Hamman, a senior from Madison; Grace McCommon, a sophomore from Southaven; Caleb Mooneyham, a senior from Pontotoc; and Zachary Sayles, a senior from Pearl.

The recital will feature music by world-renowned French composer Erik Satie, marimba and percussion virtuoso Richards Zalupe, and MSU Associate Director of Bands Clifton Taylor.

Baker holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of Connecticut, a master鈥檚 from the New England Conservatory of Music, both in music, and a doctorate in musical arts from the University of North Texas. Additionally, he is an MSU master鈥檚 degree graduate in business administration.
