Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra presents âStrings Across the Seaâ

STARKVILLE, Miss.âUnder the direction of ´ķĪķAPP Department of Music Head Barry E. Kopetz, the Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra is presenting a âStrings Across the Seaâ childrenâs program Friday [Jan. 20] on the Starkville campus.
Free to all, the 7:30 p.m. program at historic Lee Hallâs Bettersworth Auditorium is made possible by the Starkville-MSU Symphony Association. Additional support is provided by MSUâs Office of the President, the Mississippi Arts Commission, 4-County Electric Education Foundation, and CREATE Tupelo, along with individual gifts.
The performance will feature eight visiting Japanese violinists. Song selections include Antonio Vivaldiâs (1678-1741) âFour Seasons, Op. 8,â Wolfgang Amadeus Mozartâs (1756-91) âEine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525,â Shinichi Suzukiâs (1898-1998) âSelections from Suzuki Vol. 1-7,â and Mozartâs âPiano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, K. 466.â
Steinway Artist RosÃĸngela Yazbec Sebba, the departmentâs professor of piano, theory and ear training, will perform the piano concerto.
Earlier on Friday, the symphony orchestra is sponsoring 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. programs at Lee Hallâs Bettersworth Auditorium for hundreds of kindergarten through fifth grade students from local schools.
