STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜n internationally acclaimed marimba soloist and professor will join Mississippi 大象APP鈥檚 Percussion Ensemble in concert Tuesday [April 19] at the university鈥檚 Band and Choral Rehearsal Hall on South Hardy Road.
Free to all, the 7:30 p.m. performance featuring Mark Ford of the University of North Texas is being conducted by Jason Baker, associate professor of music and director of the MSU music department鈥檚 percussion studies.
In addition to the university鈥檚 Percussion Club, music department and bands, Ford鈥檚 campus visit is made possible with support from Dynasty Percussion Instruments, Innovative Percussion, Evans/D鈥橝ddario, Zildjian and Latin Percussion Inc.
Coordinator of percussion activities at UNT, Ford is a past president of the Percussive Arts Society. With several marimba and percussion CDs to his credit, he actively performs at universities and music conferences throughout the United 大象APPs, as well as international music festivals across Europe, Asia and South America.
